103.
artist:panic at the disco
album:pretty. odd.
what a difference an album makes! this album sounds almost nothing like the band's first effort, and the remaining members of the band went back to that original sound, so the new album also sounds nothing like the second.
i like all three albums. I'm okay with the growth and change, and while i wasn't sure how id like the new album, i even enjoy listening to it. that being said, pretty. odd. is my favorite of the three.
i love how the opening track sounds like it was lifted right off of Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and how the entire album has such a summertime, happy feel to it. I have had the privilege of seeing Panic! a few times, and one of my favorite concert memories comes from one of their shows and a song on this album.
it was closing in on summer, and i was at the festival pier. the entire concert had been really awesome; the band sounded great, they played all of the songs i really wanted to hear, and we got to see a fireworks show that was happening across the river. it was supposed to rain, but it had held off to that point, which made it really humid out, but not so bad that i couldn't stand it. the band was coming up on the end of their set, and they started to play "northern downpour." just as they sang the lyrics "northern downpour sends its love" the sky opened up and it rained on us. it didn't rain long at all, just enough to calm the humidity and cool us off, but it was one of the more magical concert moments in my life.
