365 project:"change this something normal into something beautiful"

87.

artist:jars of clay
album:furthermore:from the studio from the stage

while driving to West Virginia to go see Jars of Clay, i figured i should probably listen to them a bit to refresh my memory, as it had been a long while since id really given them a good listen. i don't really own any of the newer stuff, so i figured the live album that i had made the most sense, because as i figured it, if they were going to play something old, it would be on that album, too...the way i figure it, most live albums work the same as a greatest hits album would, so i decided this was my best course of action.

at the show, they only played three songs that i knew (that's how long its been since I've paid any attention to this band, sadly) but i was right, those three songs were also on this album.

i cant really figure why i got away from this band. i had a good enough time at the concert, and was happy to be there after all of the crap the day had thrown at me, but i found myself thinking more about how bored i was, trying to frame the next picture (i took over a hundred at the show), or daydreaming about how excited i was for dinner the following night (i was both starving from not eating all day and thrilled that i was going to hang out with some of my favorite people for dinner the following night).

I'm "a sucker for anything acoustic" and i am a Christian, so it baffles me why jars bored me so much, and why this album didn't really do anything for me. I have a lot more Jars in my collection, so I'm going to have to work through this, i guess.

in the meantime, here are a few pictures from that night.

  1. i do love that band even through everything, even if i'd hated a song or whatever. still have been one of my faves since they started.

  3. I have yet to see these guys live, which is sad b/c I love them...er, well, I love the older stuff. I haven't heard much of the past few albums, other than the radio singles.
